Overview

Located in Ravenna, Ohio, Syner-Jet was a company founded and ran by Wayne and Kathy Schaefer in 1988. Originally known as Ravenna Rocket Research, the company was known for its marketing strategy of selling lower-cost single-use motors by eliminating dealers and selling directly to customers. However, customers had to order motors in bulk of 6 or 12. Ravenna Rocket Research disappeared after LDRS 8 following a surplus of motor failures, but later re-emerged as Syner-Jet, which initially denied any connection to Ravenna Rocket Research before eventually admitting it in a Tripolitan advertisement.

Single-Use Motors

The Syner-Jet single-use motors featured brown paper-phenolic casings and were more reliable than those of Ravenna Rocket Research. These single use motors were avaliable in ranges from D to H.

Reloadable Motors

As reloadable motors became more popular, Syner-Jet entered the market with a line of reloadable motors available in 22mm, 29mm, and 54mm sizes. These motors featured red anodized snap ring hardware and aluminum spacers that allowed users to utilize smaller propellant loads in maximum length cases. Syner-Jet also offered a device for adjusting the delay time of reloads.

Closure

Syner-Jet eventually went out of business, with rumors circulating that the company's demise was due to the divorce of Wayne and Kathy Schaefer. No official explanation for the company's closure was ever given.
